Very cool.  I never got past the "galvanized steel wire links" bent to shape with pliers stage myself.  But the mail vest, and attractive (rose patterned) belt have held together well over the last decade and a half.  It was fun to make, though I daresay it would provide limited actual pretection from a non-foam weapon :^)
