The difficulty is the Balrog doesn't need a bridge for the crevice, and has 
a ranged weapon, and appears on turn 3(!).

However I see at least a couple of tactics that seem like they have a good 
chance of winning, for a strong Fellowship player.

I think you're right Gandalf would have a very high IQ in TFT terms, and 
know quite a bit besides spells. I doubt his race has the TFT problem with 
mortal wizards learning the Sword talent...
