Got to go put some camera traps in the woods for some filmmaker guys.

The following are taken mainly from Dictionnaire Illustre' des Merveilles Naturelles du Monde, or roughly, The Illustrated Dictionary of the Great Natural Marvels.
I use a transparency, as has been suggested by SOMEBODY here recently, but I mark the hex centers (and square centers) instead of the edges.
Google Earth has an altitude adjustment.
Meters or feet?
I suppose it doesn't matter really.
d = the square root of 2 * h * r, where d can be seen as the distance to the horizon, h is the height above sea level, and r is the radius of the planet in question (smarty pants may begin Cidri now).
Earth has an equatorial radius of 6378km or a tad less than 4000 miles, call it twenty million feet.
I'm thinking that 8 x 10 hexes can be seen as a 43' square.
Well it turns out that it's not just me.
A lot of this turns into questions about Googles field of view and its geometry, but I figure that something around 43' altitude should be in the neighborhood of a BattleMap, and 430' to see 10 by 10 BattleMaps (represented by hexes).
My best bet may simply be to take some empirical measurements.
Maybe pull up a sports arena or something...
Anyway, these areas provide dramatic and sometimes even alien landscapes, and just a plethora of terrain issues.
