Re: (TFT) Do certain actions delay your turn? (regarding adjDX)

Good catch, Sarge! Yes, I trashed the "pole-weapons go first" rule about 20 years ago. It makes no sense to me after re-enacting English Civil War as a pikeman. We used 12' poles, and there's nothing fast about them as far as I have been able to determine.

So long as you're willing to put up with the fact that you can't ever engage a pole-weapon user if he doesn't want you to because if you step adjacent to him you're charging him and he can first declare receiving a charge in the movement phase in order to act first and then in the action phase he can declare disengage and he will now disengage first regardless of the attacker's adjdex.

There are some other dirty tricks, as well, like charging in order to throw your spear at the top of the round and so forth. If you don't mind that stuff than static works fine.

Or if you just eliminate the AM rule that pole weapons always go first.

I'd take aid spells out of your list, since they only last two turns. Just have everyone act at AdjDex regardless of magical or situational effects with the one exception being injury (5 hits in a round or three or less ST left).

Once you start saying "aid spells make sense but blur spells don't" it becomes entirely subjective.

This was discussed not long ago.
Apparently there is some evidence that DX adjustments other
than armor do affect action order, but I've never seen it
played that way outside this list and personally, I think it
would be a mistake to do so except for things that reduce
the character's base DX for all situations, such as armor
and encumbrance, or an Aid spell, or something like that. If
it's a choice of target, including facing effects or
whatever, then it seems a bad idea to have it affect action
order because:

1) It doesn't make sense to me that it would have that
effect.
2) It creates a weird and way too complex situation where
you need to consider all characters' possible actions and
their DX adjustments to determine who acts when. No longer
does the highest DX go first if anyone within 4 DX of them
has a possible target they get +4 DX against, for example.
So instead of everyone acting in DX order, every potential
action by everyone in order of their DX to succeed? I think
not.
