My "wizards chest"  is an old canvas briefcase that I used to use for work.  in it I pack my rulebooks, a notebook or two, a book of graph paper, a bunch of folders filled with maps, character sheets, combat trackers, interesting articles and data tables, different scales of hex paper, and some 1' scale hex transparencies to lay out a grid over any map at all.
then there is a pencil case filled with writing implements of all sorts, a straigt ruleer, and a tape measure, a drawstring bag of dice, a cigar box full of counters, paper heros, and stands for same, a divided box for lead minis that may be needed in the current game, a gm sheild or 2, a couple of backup games (ya never know) generally old pocket box games from SJG like car wars or illuminati, or a card game, and occasionally a metal hip flask filled with cognac or Paddy's whisky.

I rarely use everything, and I always wish I had brought more.
