Joey,
I ran a Pendragon game for many years, and the campaign you have
described
is exactly - Pendragon. It's a good blend of Arthurian Myth, from
gritty to
romantic styles. Sarge is right about running kingdoms, passing on
titles,
etc. but it even goes a bit further into building your family,
aging, and
eventually passing-on many of your abilities to your heirs - AND
your Glory
(which is like experience points).
My favorite facet of Pendragon is the system for measuring Knightly
Virtues
(i.e., Merciful ...Cruel, Pious ... Worldly).
Great System, and there's tons you will want to steal for your Dark
Ages
campaign idea.
