Hey there. I'm new to The Fantasy Trip - though I've been a gamer for ~30
years.
Though I've seen TFT mentioned on a few web forums (rpg.net,
Dragonsfoot), I'd never seen a copy of either the TFT material or any of the
microgames over the years. About 2 months ago, I found a copy of Advanced
Melee at a local Half Price Books and bought it out of curiosity. I was
impressed by how intuitive the combat system seemed, and it was only a matter
of time before I snagged In the Labyrinth off eBay, and Advanced Wizard from
Noble Knight Games.
I've had some familiarity with Gurps 3rd and 4th edition
over the years, but I always found the system to have too much... overhead...
to be appealing to GM. TFT scratches the itch of being relatively
straight-forward, but still having tactical detail. The magic system is
definitely inspiring.
In any case, I'm looking forward to chatting with some
TFT veterans about the game. And, I hope to be able to GM TFT in the near
future.
K Peterson
