All very true, but that 3-die roll is by far the most common one, so I don't feel too bad about putting it that way, especially to a beginner. Besides, when I wrote that answer, all I had was the phrase "who tft", which doesn't really bolster confidence in the math skills of its author - although now I know that it was a fluke and not representative :)
