Re: (TFT) Re: Change

Yes and yes. And good points.
However, just as Art can be copied by experts, and even experts have trouble detecting it (watch the movie "The Moderns" for some humerous incidences along these lines), you should be able to make a spell up that is called "False Signature / False Residium" . And the answers to your end questions are probably "depends on the power of the spell - more powerful lasts longer, and the power of the detection spell" And yes definitely, the quest for the item of a powerful wizard is a common theme in Fantasy lit.

So, if magic IS more like an art than a science, can a wizard be
recognized by his or her spells? AW p.14 under "Detect Enemies" says,
"Will also detect hostile magic, since that contains a residuum of its
caster," which would seem to say it's possible.

Now I'm all curious. Can Analyze Magic identify the wizard who cast a
spell? How long does the residuum stick around? Are magic items made
by one particular wizard sought out and prized (like Stradivarius
violins), or are they all pretty much equivalent?
