To Geof or anyone else who's open-minded and patient with the technology
and wants to try it out, I'd be happy to coordinate a small combat using
the Vassal module for Melee.
Vassal's main page http://www.vassalengine.org/ gives you a download link
for the Engine. But you also need to download the Melee/Wizard Module from
http://www.vassalengine.org/wiki/Module:Melee_-_Wizard and then load it
(File -> Open Module...") in Vassal.
The rest is, well, poorly documented in the module (the Engine changed a
bit and the Getting Started documentation isn't 100% accurate). But isn't
hard to figure out.
You have connect to the Vassal server, then start a new game (select either
Melee or Wizard board). Then you drag your figures to the map, configure
them (name, stats), and start playing.
As I said, Vassal just lets you move the pieces around, keep track of
phases of turns, adjust ST/DX according to events, roll dice, etc. This is
all done manually, but you get a log of the information.
I've never played with another person in server mode, so I'd be eager to
try if other patient individuals are interested.
