Re: (TFT) Melee Arena discussion

As I recall Vassal was a bit... clunky. Tough to wrap a non-wired head
around for the extended functionality and all to an end meant to
"feel" tabletop...
I'm having fun with a Talisman "Prologue" thing that's VERY faithful
to the first editions I know and it is just great. Also in the bargain
bin at Amazon is the "other" GW's Blood Bowl... fun until the cheating
by the computer becomes to much to ignore... FAR too many incredible
rolls by the machine and me missing WAY too many threes... IS there a
good computer dice routine out there? Not like I've looked real hard
but I've found problems where I have looked.
However, outta the whole of the subjects of what TFT points at
strongly, if not overtly, with it's setting and stated purposes I
don't think anyone is gonna tout combat as anything but the most
complete area of the mechanics.
There are a number of Talents that suggest at least one future
expansion area, and of course the Mnoren sup that never was are just a
couple of areas that spring to mind...
My recent experience with "learning" my computer, a Win 7 64-bit 4
core that I didn't realize what I had till I upped my video and
started loading game software... I'm writing batch files again, and it
makes me wonder if a front end that opens several different games
depending on the Scales a Figure can Action on... so a King Figure run
by a player could open and take certain Actions on the 4x Scale on
down to a POV of the throne room or whathaveyou.
It's funny this comes up now as I've also been casting a baleful,
bloodshot eye on the "app" thing... gamesalad... Really?
More than anything I want bookkeeping assistance...
I view the "rules" as the tools used to "shape" the medium... the
cameras and film of the movies, the painters canvas, pigments, and
brushes, or for this interaction that "makes" story, the dice,
Figures, and periodic tiled "maps" all serve to give a more detailed
picture of a situation than could be given in many words, but not
digressing into the language of detailed specifics math.

Be nice if we were pulling together somewhat I agree.
Regardless SOMEBODY needs to be on top of THAT because if lessons
learned at the game tables of old aren't screaming IT'S TIME to
anybody but me then... but that just can't be.
If I'm seeing the pinholes on my Kindle Fire screen right I'm guessing
a solidstate-ish thing going on... want Dice, Figures, Terrain still
available on table... wonder if/how such could still "talk" with it?
