RE: (TFT) Cost of spells. Alternate rules

Hi all,
I knew of a TFT campaign where the GM wanted
more talents so he added a new attribute --> Education.
This started at zero & people would typically start
their characters with 3 or 4 points in it.

What it did is multiply the character's IQ by their
Education to give you the amount of memory you can spend
on spells or talents. Thus, effectively, everyone could take
as many spells as they liked in that campaign. (I argued
against this idea, but as an outsider I was roundly
ignored.)

It seems to me that the Extra Spells talent that
you are suggesting below would do the same thing. Once a
wizard gets IQ 14 they would buy memory for several
dozen spells with this talent.

Your talent below just feels broke, why would you
allow people to buy it as often as they want?

	Rick

This seems more complicated than necessary. Would this talent do the same
thing:

Extra Spells (ES, IQ 14, Costs 3*, mt). This talent represents an
especially studious or naturally talented wizard. This talent can be taken
more than once. Each time it is taken the wizard gets a number of extra
spells equal to the wizard's IQ.

Of course, the details can be changed, but isn't it much easier to do it
this way?

It's also also seems alot easier to rule on. The GM when looking at a
character doesn't have to actually figure out the IQ cost spent for spells.
He can just look at the talent list for the character and say "Yes, I allow
this" or "No, I dont use that talent".
