I've keeping trying many other RPG's, but I just keep coming
back to TFT. It works better for more different types of
games than any other system I try. Minimum rules means maximum
roleplaying.
Michael,
My feelings exatly. As one player told me "More is less. Less is
more." Another player, who specializes in finding loop-holes in the rules
and abusing them (he made a hash of G.U.R.P.S.), told me that TFT was very
hard to "rape" as it was not only very simple, but in may places
specifically says what CAN'T be done.
A perfect example of this, and one that suprises many long term TFT
players, is this little tid bit from the magic system. It's under the
section on THROWN SPELLS and lays a very serious limitation on them.
"Only one Blur, one Dazzle, one Stone Flesh, on Shock shield, etc., can
be cast on any given figure at a time. These spells are not cumulative"
-Advanced Wizard, page 4
Many high powered characters had magic items with both Stone Flesh and
Blur on them. As it turns out they can only have one "Activated" at a time.
This cause a major reduction in super characters.
