I like it. I may have argued for a higher IQ, not from game
balance reasons, but from a sense of the grandeur of the spell.
I'd then make it grander, in small ways. Overall, I would
contrast and compare to Create Wall, and find some way to
balance making it permanent. Like, maintain the cost over X
period of time, and the tree becomes natural and permanent.
Maybe that's a higher IQ version of the spell.
BTW, do you allow characters to maintain a cost through a period
of sleep? It's an interesting idea, for certain sorts of
spells. Do you then also allow the character to regain ST
during that rest? That seems to me to be an important question.
