Good ideas.  One other suggestion I might add would be this: not only do they 
have to drink blood, make it clear that they can't eat or drink anything else. 
("I don't drink...wine.")  That will make it rather harder for the vampire to 
pass himself off as a human.

(Er, I mean as "non-infected".  I don't really buy this Jacksonian stuff about 
vampirism being a disease caused by micro-organisms.  Micro-organisms that allow 
you to *levitate*?  To me that's harder to accept than a 'supernatural' cause. 
Oh well, I guess microbes in TFT have the equivalent of wizards and heroes just 
like people do.  These microbes are the magic-using ones.  Yes, I'm kidding.)
