I'm not shooting for strict realism, like I said, I don't know how often swords break accidentally, I just use the 1/216 because it fits the dice convention, and from a play balance and fun perspective works well for my group. But from a play balance perspective, within the structure of the game, I think it should be analagous to using a staff to cause a dropped weapon, since after all, accidental drops happen 3 times more frequently than accidental breaks.
I suppose, if you believe that a swordbreaker is not really needed, i could live with just a new talent, and a propoerly designed and crafted sword. Then a -4 to hit and a subsequent roll.
In tft grabbing an opponents wrist is no mean feat, if you want to seperate an opponent from his weapon, you usually must risk HTH combat.
I don't know how well this rule tweak would reflect reality, but something like it should not upset play balance too much.
