When I do it it's by mistake, forgetting before it's too late that it's a 
problem with this list.

I imagine others too use email software set to include the original message 
in a reply by default, then just say what their reply is at the top. In 
email, this is not always inconvenient, as it gives the context for people 
who do a lot of email.

Maybe an algorithm could be applied to the digest so that if any complete 
email text is included unedited in a reply, it clips it out or inserts a 
link to the original message in its place. I realize though that 
unfortunately we probably don't have access to the code.

So, ya, we should all strive to not include more than what we're replying 
to in our replies.
