Re: (TFT) We've lost another one...
I've always like D&D. There were certainly things that I didn't like, but it's another way to skin the fantasy role-playing cat. I think I like attribute/skill based systems like TFT and GURPS better. D&D is great simply because of the amount of resources available. I am disappointed with later DM guides. I recall the old one (with the big red demon on it) was full of information and theory. It was good reading by itself.
I had a much easier time converting the old AD&D characters to TFT. When I recently tried to convert the 2nd ed./Players' Choice stuff to TFT, I found it much more difficult. These later editions of D&D start characters out with an enormous amount of skills and proficiencies (class, race, otherwise) and spells. I found that if I tried to give the 3rd level D&D character all that he wanted, I wound up with a TFT character that looked like it had been a 15th Lvl D&D character from the old days. It was difficult.
In the end, I think my conversions were pretty close. The problem may be in not fully converting everything. I'm still hopeful that we can work out the bugs. The boys have calmed down and little and are thinking more about our options.
Thanks guys.

Aiden,
Most of us 'got it'. I just have to assume that maybe Erol has been corrupted
- nay, Brainwashed - by the Pod People! It's not his fault.
