       The damage seems ok for that distance

summation 1: 3d6 damage if a character is struck by a car going 56 kph.

Eight points of damage is serious bone breaking damage.
My reasoning for 8 points of damage
       8+ points of damage shatters a skeleton
       8+ points of damage automatically knocks down a 1 hex figure
       Morningstar is just a cool weapon (2D+1 = 8 average at 6kg)

summation 2:
Force = Mass * acceleration
      8 =   6kg * 1.333
