So my question to the group is, what do you think about a "rewrite" of the
TFT rules, in effect bringing them into the 21st century under another
copyright? Saying the same things in essence, but in other literal words,
to preserve this game system for future generations before it is lost
completely. How many of you love the way TFT works versus other FRP game
systems and this is what keeps you playing it? Would the brainiac site, for
instance, host a link to this rewrite of TFT if it were available and if DCG
would not?

Love the idea, will be happy to contribute writing or proofread (but don't have time to do the whole thing).

As Erol points out, there are large collections of "house rules" that have been discussed here, among the most popular of which are "split attributes" (e.g., IQ divides into one attribute governing memory and another limiting which spells, talents, etc. can be taken). If the rewrite takes place, I think it would be a really good idea to include Appendices, Codas, or other add-ons indicating how these "house rules" could be added to the basic system. (One might also do the rewrite including the "house rules" but suggest simplifications, like requiring (memory) = (intelligence), but this would make the system harder to learn and is not IMHO desirable.) This has already been done to some extent with things like "Mounted Combat", "Dagger Marksmanship", etc. in Advanced Melee.
