This reminds me of a fight we had long ago. There was
a very smart goblin who had his tribe of goblins trick
a giant into thinking the giant was king of them all.
Basically for the cost of sucking up a bit to the giant
and feeding him, they had a giant ally when they had a
fight.
The goblin leader, armed much of his band with lassos
and bolas.
When they got into a fight, they would knock down the
PC's and then a giant doing 4d+2 with his mace would
be hitting on a 13 adjusted DX.
The surviving PC's retreated and never actually got
around to coming back to kill off and loot that goblin
warren.
