Re: (TFT) ST Aid Questions

We encountered a ring in days of yore that would "heal full" once a week. The catch was, it didn't really heal you, rather it "aided" the number of hits you were down at the moment it was cast until you healed those hits back naturally. And, it continuously maintained the aid until it was removed. So, you couldn't take the ring off once you used it or you would immediately lose the health it healed (minus whatever you might have naturally healed since you cast the spell).

This might sound strange, but the ring was actually a backhanded curse for the superhero characters that found it. It was a way to recover from massive hits all at once, but with the rule of five, it meant the superheroes had to take off one of their super items to use it. So, it seemed like it was a cursed item with a curse that could not be removed.

Good Fortune,
Richard

Wizard keeps his 1+4.

Hero is dead. I am reminded of Fred Saberhagen's "<First?> Book of Swords", in which the magic sword, Townsaver, kept the warrior alive long enough to defend the village. Once the threat was removed, Townsaver's spell ended and the battered hero dropped dead. The magic that gives the hero artificial ST does NOT provide magical armor. Hits are Hits, after all.

>
> I'd say "no", it hasn't "removed" the Aided ST, anymore than a hit "removes" regular ST...you can still wield a Broadsword even if your ST 12 hero takes 6 wounds. But I'm curious as to what you guys think, and it brings up a further question...

>
> Again, I'd say "no", based on the way apprentices use aid to cast high fatigue spells. But, admittedly, that's fatigue, not actual wounds, and there's no penalty for dropping to -50 fatigue once the aid spells wear off.
