Re: (TFT) IQ and XP

I have always calculated the XP as in the books, and awarded additional XP for cool stuff, and good ideas, unexpected planning, etc. plus roleplaying, goal accomplishment and whatnot, then a little handwavy extra for particularly meaty opponents (like an umber-hulk, say) and off we go.

I'd say about 65 - 70% was just straight-out st and dx, though. I am not much of a house-rule maker, I suppose.

Any chance we could prod you to maybe share some of it? Because I agree with
what you are saying totally.
Though there is the 'old school' player in me that likes the bean counting
aspects of the system, part of me wonders if its worth the trouble. It seems
like a hand wavey scale might simply be easier:Pests: 1xpNuisance: 5 xpEasy:
10-15xpAverage: 20-30 xpHard: 50-75 xpDangerous: 80-100 xpDeadly: 150+ xp

Something like this would have the advantage of being more fluid and scaling
well at all levels of play (something hard for a 32 point character would be
average for a 36 or easy for a 40 for example). But it would require a lot of
GM calls.

We developed an experience system for TFT which took into account a lot
more than ST and DX, including the equipment and relative power levels
between opponents. I don't have it in electronic format to share, but
of course you are right. The IQ of wizards should be included.
