Re: (TFT) Wizard mods - out of balance?

I think it makes them a bit tougher, but it gives them a different flavor. They will likely have morespell-casting ability than regular wizards, but fewer strength,so will be easier to kill, until they start casting spells, since the INT fatigue does not make one easier to kill.

Wizards will likely be willing to cast more and faster, since having fully cast out, they are still totally capable of exploring, or HTH and Melee combat as they were at the start of the day.

It depends on whether the flavor change is worth it to you, for the balance change cost it comes with.

Of course, I have traditionally played very close to the canon game as written. Only after 25 yrsof playing, and discovering this list, have I made afew modifications other than new monsters and magic items (adopted 4 or 5 newspells from the collected spells on the list, and modified "at death's door" at 0 st rules from the list, rather than the dead at 0 I ran for 25 yrs prior - I am getting soft in my old age, I dont track armor degradation and replacement costs anymore either).

SO, I think it makes wizards tougher and more valuable, and changes the flavor, as a hero fan, I have no interest in doing so in my games but you may well like the flavor change.

I am toying with the following adjustments to Wizard ...

Wizards get SP (Spell Points) equal to their IQ (not ST).

When SP is depleted they can no longer cast spells.

I realise these ideas are not new and others on this list have made similar
suggestions/adjustments and incorporated them into their house rules.

Any thoughts?

Does this make wizards too tough - I don't think so - but I need to playtest
a lot more. Maybe others have already drawn conclusions from their own
experimentation of this style of change.
