You could also figure out what the MPH to sprinting MA conversion is, and then use that for animals and other speeds you can pull from real-world data when needed, so you can't out-run bears, etc.

~0.681 mph = 1 fps
~1.46 fps = 1 mph
~0.5836 mph = ~0.84 fps = 1MA
Far from perfect but in the ballpark as far as government work is concerned.


Mostly though, as an earlier poster said, you can play for many years without it ever coming up in play, largely because practically always, it doesn't matter (or even become noticeable) that turns represent 5 seconds each.


Well yes but isn't that mostly because many GM's don't count time very accuratly? Kindda like encumbrance... I made a card game out of that to make it more "playable" while still giving info at a look.

Then again... I didn't really have a big need for olympic sprinter velocities before I started working on athletics stuff...there are only 15 hexes across the longest distance on the TFT map after all and that's not even 20 yards.
Not much reason to be all out sprinting there.
