Sure, hence the beauty of the critical -- if death only happens on a
critical success/failure (depending on who you want to make the roll)
then you only have an ~1% chance of death. Contrasted even to putting
a couple of ST into casting a Fireball or Lightning bolt, this chance
of death is probably smaller
