I agree DX adjustment not damage reduction as very few heavy weapons (two

       This is why I suggest reducing the hit chance rather than increasi
ng the damage reduction. Historically, shield walls were facing spears, p
iles, javelins and one-handed swords. Unless you want shield walls to be 
invulnerable without very high-damage attacks, having shields stack up hu
ge damage reduction may not give what you want.

         Either way, you run up against scaling problems.
         

         Triple shields make someone practically invulnerable.
         

         Enough DX adjustments do the same, though there's a practical mi
nimum of DX5.
