Hi Jeff, If everyone posts on the SJG forum instead of here, this one WILL die.
And I was meaning that the SJG forum was the one frozen in time. SJ has said he intends to keep TFT very much like how it was in 1980. When I heard that I lost a lot of interest in the new TFT.
True, stuff that will never be in the new TFT could be posted there. But a lot of people there keep posting that “TFT should just stay the same!”
I find this mailing list to be much more friendly and welcoming to changes and rule variants.
I have no desire to have the brainiac site to fade away. Which means it needs to be supported.
Rick
Rick, I never advocated closing this forum; implying I did is somewhat disingenuous.
I'm just pointing out that I miss about half the discussion on here because I don't receive about half the replies, which makes it hard to read and understand precisely what's being advocated or what the issues with it are. On the other hand, the SJG forum never causes that problem; so for substantive discussions on rules ideas, I really think it's better to put it somewhere where everyone can read everything.
As far as I know, there is no rule over there that only things that Steve Jackson will be likely to adopt can be put there.
Also, if this forum "is for the TFT frozen in amber," why are you starting a discussion on a rule change? Clearly those arguments are contradictory.
Bottom line: I don't wan this forum to go away, but for things where it's important to get ALL of the information, I think a more reliable forum would be preferable. That's all.
Hi Jeffrey, You are asking, ‘why not put this discussion on the SJG TFT forum’? This list is the TFT I know and love. That forum is for the TFT frozen in amber, pretty much the same as it was in 1980. For the love of the game, I’ve read the whole forum and made MANY suggestions, but I’m sure that SJ will ignore them.
If I post a rule or suggestion that I’m sure that SJ will ignore, I feel that I am wasting everyone’s time.
So I have no desire for this forum to die away.
Warm regards, Rick.
Two comments.
One, why not put this discussion over on the forums? Frankly, I only see about half the messages sent on this forum anyway, and I hate trying to have a substantive discussion here because of that fact. I'm always missing about half of the input.
