(TFT) Plate Armor

This is very true. In Graz, Austria I once went into the 16th century armory
there. The place is three stories of plate armor, pikes, arquebuses, swords,
and cannon! They had a lot of plate armor there with the telltale "bullet
dent". Not knowing at the time what it was I asked an attendant. He told me
that it was the test dent that Justin mentions.
I suppose that if they wanted to keep the armorers honest they would test
the plate with him in it! Heh, that would make a good mini adventure for a
character wanting to buy magical plate armor: "here try this on before you
buy it and I'll test it with this arquebus"! (3 dice vs. IQ to not do it)
