Keep in mind that I use Luck points (100 EP each) and I allow Physicker's
to bring someone back from the dead if it's been recently enough, so the
result would probably not have been fatal. 

But it still seems pretty fair (and damn funnier to watch that any other
result!).

Well, looks like the rings was really just a ring of Infravision instead!
