(TFT) States of a figure (standing, kneeling, prone, ...)

Hi,

How many "states" of a figure do you consider to be important in the game? I
see the following as obvious:

standing,
kneeling, and
prone.

However, there are a few others that are discussed in the rules:

crawling and
knocked-down.

Knocked-down seems to be identical to prone, except for you are unable to do
anything for one turn. It's like knocked-down morphs into prone at the end of
the turn. Another difference between knocked-down and prone may be that you
don't have a front-hex for aiming purposes, since you can't do anything when
knocked down.

Crawling is perhaps also like prone, only meaning you can move with MA 2. But I
see that you may have a front hex with respect to casting spells. All your
hexes are rear ones if you are attacked.

Here are some questions:

1) It's clear how to transition between the "extreme" states: standing and
prone, standing and kneeling, kneeling and standing, prone and standing - the
options are "drop" and "stand up". However, what options must be taken to move
from kneeling to prone, or prone to kneeling? Are they just "drop" or "stand
up" actions, but with a partial position change? What about knocked down to
crawling? Is that automatic after one round? Crawling to kneeling?

2) if a prone crossbowman crawls one hex (half his MA, but also a single hex)
during movement, is he allowed to then fire his loaded bow on the same turn? Or
does he have to take the next turn to return to "prone" state because he was
crawling.

I seem to have recalled reading these somewhere, but I couldn't find them in my
last skim of the AM rules.

It would be good to do a complete state machine, with transitions (actions)
leading out of the states (->) to other states. For example:

standing
  drop -> prone
  drop -> kneeling
  injury -> knocked down

kneeling
  stand-up -> standing

prone
  stand-up -> standing

knocked-down
  one-round-delay -> prone

According to the above, it's not possible to transition from prone to kneeling,
because no action is specified. Also, I didn't include crawling, because it's
not obvious how you get to that state, although AM rules say (p.5, top) you can
"drop" to that state. Perhaps it's a state synonymous with prone and kneeling
(i.e., you can always crawl if you're prone/kneeling).

How would you complete the state machine to explain what happens between prone
-> kneeling, for example?
