Re: (TFT) new player wants an attack worthy animal companion(wolf). what should i do with that?

Hm... well that particular campaign, for me, ended up being very black and grey.

A big evil guy was trying to conquer the world (This entire game was very tolkein inspired down to even some important details... the big difference was that all the fellowship guys were different and most of them ended up going off solo because they had trouble agreeing about anything) but the Dwarf (who was one of the few successful guys who went of solo, the rest died or got seriously sidetracked) basically just was a one man destructive horde on the path to taking out the big bad, with the plan of trying to take over the big bad's empire if at all possible.

When I played a GURPS version of this character, inns and cities were
a problem. Being a wolf, my character's companion was able to take
care of themselves in the woods outside of any inn my character might
stay in. And my character tended to not go to cities very often. When
we did, the wolf just stayed out of town until he came out.

Thanks Rick, and thanks every one else. That warms up to a whole new topic.

How many of you guys use Disads and Advantages in your TFT games?
I'm going to let him keep his wolfie with animal handler.

I might give him some thing to think about: B will THE MAN (innkeeper) allow him to keep his wolf in an INN. Horses dont do well with wolves? or is this
a myth to be busted.

Hi Joel,
B Some GM's insist that every character starts
absolutely equal and must work their way up.
If everyone starts at the same point, that is
fine, but it takes longer before they start to
feel very different from the hundreds of other
PC's who have come before them.

B I would insist he takes Animal Handler.

B However, (in GURPS terms), I now allow every
player a few points for advantages. B So if they
want to be noble I let them start with as a
son of a minor noble. B Not too wealthy but the
PC has a mortgaged manor and a title. B If he
wants a to be an amazing tracker, I say he has
a knack for it and can roll one less die when
tracking. B And if he wants a wolf, then I would
start him with a nice tough one.

B If the PC wanted a major advantage, I would
give him a disadvantage or two and or start him
off with a few less attributes.

B But it is up to you of course.

B Warm regards, Rick.
