Re: (TFT) The return of Ogre - Rick did something silly.
saw the video, good stuff.
I think there's two different experiences gamers want - some want a game
world that is just as complex and intricate as the real world - or as close
to it as they can come in a game / gaming / RPG experience. Those are the
people with 150 page rulebooks and 5-page characters. Then there's people
who just want to have a loose but interesting plot line that give them an
excuse to go wander around a dungeon killing things and taking their
treasure.
I have to say, that _personally_, my real life is complicated and
challenging enough, so I prefer a plot as thin as "Death Test" and a system
as easy as Melee / Wizard. Or "just kill the giant Ogre tank" or "Just
drive the car and shoot all the other cars". If I want complex, I just have
to return to real life.
While I understand that people love to play such games on line, I like the
use of paper and pencil, paper rules and those cheap graphics of Melee,
Wizard, and Advanced M/W.
I also found my copy of Black Hole recently!
