Rick. I'm afraid I don't understand your chart. Can you lay it out differently so I can see a label next to each number along the armour line. Also, what is Thresh? I assume NO - means no DX penalty? What is Thin Wep.?

I like the idea of Orc armor. Anything special for Goblins?

Notes: 1. Elves are -2 adj MA to the listed value for ALL armor types so
their no negative # is +2. The one exception is Elvenmail which gives all other races a -0 adj MA and Elves just a -1 adj MA.

2. All types of Chain mail stops only -1 hits vs stilettos & darts,
and only -2 hits vs rapiers, picks, arrows and other impaling weapons. Normal humans now have a 7 MA in chainmail. Generally the
various types of chain don't have as heavy a movement penalties as
other armor that stops that many hits.

I like the idea of arrows going thru the rings. How do you handle 1/2 MA 7 in combat? Does it go back down to 3MA?

3. Giants are +2 adj MA to the listed value for ALL armor types, so their no negative # is -2.

Here are some of my Special Racial Armors:

*Dwarven Chainmail - Stops 4 points at Dex -3 and MA=6. Dwarven Chain acts as if it is Fine Chainmail. This armor can take Fortify & Deflect enchantments at 1/2 cost and 1/2 the time. Its most unique feature is that it is completely impenetrable under normal combat conditions. All damage taken by someone wearing this armor is automatically treated as crushing damage. (no Puncture wound). Dwarven steel is probably denser than normal steel and thus heavier.

However, the manufacture of Dwarven Mail requires Dwarven Steel and other expensive ingredience (the exact nature of which are a closely held secret of the dwarven race) and suits can only be made for the mightiest of lords & heroes. However, they make loads of these for their army (issued only in times of dire need), so if your merchant came upon a dwarven massacre, he's got a fortune.

Dwarven law also mandates that suits of Dwarven Mail be controlled issued to Dwarves or Gnomes only. All outside sales are to be registered with the Armorer's Guild. Dwarven Mail that is worn by those races disliked by Dwarves will risk confiscation.

   Asking Price - $2000*

Dwarven Chainmail can be custom-fit as Fine Dwarven Chainmail
Stops 4 points at Dex -2.
   Asking Price - $3000*

            *these prices are probably low.

The Dwarves also make a radical plate armor.
---------
Elven Silversilk Cloth (non-magical) - Stops 2 hitpoints at Dex -1 and no MA loss. Elven Silversilk cloth is made of the sinews of the Kevlar plant. It is weaved into a plyable cloth as thick as cordaroy, so it is still not as bulky or heavy as regular cloth armor
