Re: (TFT) Megahex definition
Thanks Robert! I put a lot of work and energy into my game set ups. The
visual impact, at least to me, just heightens the overall enjoyment of
the game. All those buildings are available on that site to download for
free by the way. As well as all of my custom, Heroscape superhero cards.
Anyway, the rules for half hexes are of course Heroscape rules. However
they could easily be adapted for TFT.
There are two types of half hexes, open and closed. Open are the hexes
on top of a building where a figures base could overhang the edge.
Closed are the ones at the base of a building where a wall runs through
the hex.
Closed half hexes: Small and Medium figures can move (squeeze) through
closed half hexes but they cannot end their movement in one. Large and
Huge figures cannot move through them at all. There's no restrictions
for Tiny figures (like Ant-Man), they can end their movement in one.
Open half hexes: All figures can stand on a open half hex, but, since
they are usually slightly off balance and teetering on the edge of a
building, they roll 1 less attack and 1 less defense die (down to a
minimum of 1). Tiny figures do not have this restriction.
It's a simple solution that's worked very well for us over the years. If
used for TFT you'd have to figure out what constitutes a figures size
(probably based on number of hexes) and give a -2 or a -4 DX penalty. By
the way Heroscape gets away with a lot of terrain issues by only making
1 and 2 hex size bases for all of their figures. This allows greater
mobility on the 3d terrain than say a 4 or 7 hex dragon would allow.
I've been toying with the idea of doing the same thing for my TFT games.
